Dottie - "Can ya' believe how fast this year has gone".
Marge - "So fast I can't remember what I had for lunch."
Dottie - "Oh Marge, we haven't even had lunch yet".
Hank - "FARKLE!!!"
Marge - "See, that's what we get for gabbin'" "Good job Hank. Didn't you win the last game?"
Hank - Laughing "I can't remember".. still laughing.
Dottie - "Speaking of winning, do you remember that church on Main Street where that man who won the lottery, dropped his check in the offering plate?"
Marge - "I sure wished he'd had dropped it on my plate. I wonder what he hopes to gain from such a large gift?"
Hank - "Well, a couple years ago, that church caught fire from the Christmas Tree. The pastor and his family were sleeping in the upstairs apartment. They were trapped by the smoke and some man ran up and carried each of them down. He saved their lives. I read that they lost most of pulpit and all of the choir loft. They were known for their beautiful hymnal songs. Not many churches still sing from a hymn book."
Dottie - "I remember that man was a town hero. Now with all that money, I reckon they could build a new church, with a bigger choir loft and sing them hymnal songs. {singing}"How great thou art, how great thou art..."
Nurse Jane - "Good morning! I see you have a serious game of Farkle going."
Hank - "Good morning Jane. We had a game going, until I beat their socks off. Scored 10,000 in less than 20 minutes, I did."
Nurse Jane - "Hank, you are the Farkle King, now aren't you? Good job. Lunch will be served in about 10 minutes, hope you haven't lost your appetites ladies.
Marge - "Jane, do you remember that lottery winner that put his winnings in the offering at the Church on Main Street?"
Nurse Jane- "Yes I do Marge, as a matter of fact, they just remodeled that church from that Christmas tree fire two years ago. I have heard it's quite lovely."
Dottie - "I would have thought they would build a new church, something with a high roof that reaches to Heaven."
Nurse Jane - "Oh, I guess you didn't hear what they did with all that money. There was a woman who gave birth to a baby back in November, she named him Paul. Paul was born with a rare blood disease. The mother had lost her husband a few months prior while he was in Iraq, he was a Marine. Afraid and alone, she decided to give Paul up for adoption. As he will need a lifetime of mediation to help him live a normal life. The church decided it would be best to help this woman keep Paul and afford his medication, so they set up an account that would help her buy the medication he will need to live and be healthy."
Marge - "Well, that was a useful way to spend the money, but why on this one baby, why Paul?"
Nurse Jane - "You see, Paul is the son of Matthew, the man who rescued the Pastor of that church and his family from the fire. They felt God allowed the winnings to help provide for all that will need it. And that meant Paul."
Dottie - "I think that is a won-der-ful gift!"
Marge - "Oh yes, Paul will carry on the memory of his father."
Hank - "God definitely has great ideas, now, doesn't he?"
Nurse Jane - "God sure does have great idea's. Every time Paul enters that church it will be a "New Day of Life" for him. For every NEW day is a gift, right?"
Dottie - "And tomorrow is New Year's. January first. Another year old, I reckon. I guess that means Hank's farkel reign as King is over."
Marge - "I will EAT to that".
