There is no shortage of information and advice in today’s society. From talk shows, to self-help books, to the internet- “experts” are everywhere. Hebrews 12:1 states that we “are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses.” What if we could get advice from these experts? Perhaps Peter could give fishing tips, or Moses could give the top ten ways to prepare manna. But seriously- what if David could teach you about worship? What if you could ask Esther about fear…

Dear Esther,
Help! Each minute of my day is filled with fear and anxiety. My list of fears greatly exceeds my “to do” list. You were so brave to stand up to the king. How does one become so bold and courageous? Any advice?

Dear Scared,
It’s about time! First- it’s time for you to start living without fear. As my new friend Timothy wrote, “God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and love, and of a sound mind.”
Second, much of fear is about time- either your past or your future. No amount of anxiety will change whatever has happened or what is to come. God’s promise of forgiveness, grace, and provision is more than sufficient for yesterday’s sorrows and all your tomorrows.
Finally, I believe time has a direct correlation to fear. The more time you spend with your Father- the less time you will spend in fear. You will come to know His love and power. You will come to never doubt that He will protect and provide.
With the King of Kings behind you, you can face any king or problem. Without fear, you, too, can fulfill your purpose for “such a time as this.”
