When I was very young
Time was an endless measure
Ordained by God
To give me endless pleasure
When I was very young
It was a time of mud puddles
For jumping in
For story time and cuddles
When I went off to school
Time was numbers and letters
Divided by
History and other matters
When I had my first date
Time was fashion and glitter
Parties and proms
And dancing with a mister
When I walked down the aisle
Time paused with each step taken
Ordained by God
All others are forsaken
When I held my first child
Time became a breath and prayer
On laughter’s wings
My spirit held with His care
When I walk through the storm
Life becomes a time of prayer
On wings of faith
I’m drawn to the Master’s care
One by one I watch them go
Time a blessing from His hand
Faith hope and love
His Spirit’s power my command
When I was very old
Time ceased its endless measure
Ordained by God
He gives eternal pleasure
