ADD TO MY FAVORITES
And all through the church
Each member was reverent
All in their own perch
And I in my front pew
My hands in my lap
Had just settled in
For my long Wednesday nap.
When what with my wondering
Ears should I hear
But a quiet little snore
From a pew in the rear.
Not sure I had heard it
I silently sat
And waited to hear
Another sound just like that.
I heard it and wondered
"Who could it be?"
I was still awake
So it couldn't be me.
I cautiously raised
My head to look about
What I saw almost made
My laughter come out.
Up one head, then two
Over pew backs they raised
I could see that each one
Had a grin on their face.
Oh the chuckles, the chortles
The snickers, the shakes.
For secretly each was glad
That they were awake.
At last in that back pew
The sleeper awoke
When a kind friend beside him
Gave his broad side a poke.
Although everyone knows
That at church you should pray
We all can relate
To what happened that day
If you stop and you sit
After rushing about
And your head starts to nod
And you have snoot in your snout
A snore just might happen
And if you're awake
You too might start laughing
And your sides just might shake.
If they do, just remember
That one of these times
It might be you snoring
And causing this rhyme.
