I tried desperately to smile, feeling uncomfortable with all eyes fixed upon me, until I stood beside the other bridesmaids, also in full renaissance attire. The girl beside me leaned over to whisper into my ear.
“You look terrified.” I smiled, knowing full well how silly I appeared. My best friend was quite a character and a renaissance wedding fitted her personality perfectly. The nervous groom stood to my left decked out in black with knee high-boots. His dark curly hair gave him the realistic look of a dashing pirate.
“I know who to blame if we have any problems in our marriage,” he had repeatedly joked throughout the week. I always laughed nervously knowing that what he said was true. If it wasn’t for me they would have never met. When I met him my first year at a Christian college I never really imagined the two together. But after my best friend decided to join me at school the following year, within the first weeks of meeting they were madly in love.
I wondered, fiddling with my silk flowers and shifting my weight from left to right, what would have happened if I had chosen a different college to attend. Would any of us be here now?
As the Celtic music played, my mind wondered back to the day we met as two energetic girls in the third grade. I had tried my best over the years to explain who God was to her, but it was not until almost seven years later when we knelt as high school freshmen on the velvet purple carpet in the church auditorium that it finally seemed to click. Being the only Christian in her family, her faith grew slow but strong over the next ten years. Now she was making the most important step toward enhancing her Christian life; marring an amazing man of faith who would guide her closer to God each day.
A tear slowly slid down the side of my check. The Wedding March began and everyone stood to their feet. She looked beautiful. Draped in white ribbons and beads with her hair in curls, she slowly walked down the aisle in the arms of her beaming father. The grooms eyes brimmed with tears as their hands touched.
I smiled at the two of them as the pastor called us to prayer. Smoothing out my long skirts, I bowed my head to give thanks. Few in the room knew the large role I had played in my best friend’s life that affected so many others, but it didn’t matter. It was a joy just to be a part of it all.

Just a couple of typos--"I walked slowed" ("slowly"?) and "marred an amazing man" (assume that "married" is the desired word!).
The unusual title grabbed me. Good job!
