Formless and void,
And not much larger
Than an asteroid.
But when God's Spirit
Moved over the deep,
This tiny planet
Awakened from sleep.
"Let there be Light!"
Was the first command.
Then the Earth was divided
Into sky, sea and land.
Then into the heavens
God put two lights,
A sun for the day
And a moon for the nights.
He also made oceans,
Rivers and seas;
Mountains and meadows,
With flowers and trees.
The Creator would speak
And Command with one word,
And "poof"- there's a grizzly,
A kangaroo or a bird!
But when He was finished,
He turned to His Son;
"Is there anything else,
That needs to be done?"
"Why not make Man,
To keep things intact;
Then give him dominion
Down here to enact."
T'was a brilliant idea,
So from earth and sod,
Man was created
In the image of God.
Then into man's nostrils
God breathed Life's air,
And the Man stood up,
Alert and aware.
At last God was finished...
He'd accomplished His goal;
Giving life to a planet,
And to Man... his own Soul.
"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and Man became a living soul." (Gen 2:7 KJV)
