The euphoria lasts about long enough to make a long list of things to be accomplished over the next couple of months. I’ll choose one or two small, quick projects to get me motivated; but the file pile gets taller, the spare closet into which I’ve tossed clutter to sort later spills out into the room, and my head aches from trying to design a workable spreadsheet to organize finances. About then, the lure of a good book or shopping trip with my sister overpowers my well-intentioned resolve.
But this year will be different. This year God will answer my prayer, and help me be a better steward of the time He’s given me, just as He has in the past. Looking back at the ways He’s taught me little by little how to manage better, rather than focusing on failure, keeps me encouraged and thankful. Sometimes it’s such a simple solution that I wonder how it escaped my notice; other times it’s a major aha! moment.
I don’t expect perfection because He never promised an instant miracle fix. In fact, my shortcomings remind me that I’m still a work in progress in need of my Heavenly Father’s teaching.
Now, Lord, what do You want me to learn this year? What’s that? I can’t take on something new to fill the time now that this other responsibility has ended? But then I won’t have a good excuse for not having time! Oh, I see…that’s the point.
Okay, I’m ready. Where shall we start?

That is helpful because I always am getting more to do on my plate and then find I don't have enough energy and time to do the other things I was suppose to do.
If I do what I am suppose to do then the other things would be easier to do also. Trudy
