A chalice of price
Jesus looked in
And saw only sin
Daunting to Him
A substance so grim
Dark and fearful
Leaving Him tearful
Jesus is pure
He will endure
Born of God’s making
Faith without breaking
He asks for the will
Of His Father still
Leading the Son
God’s will be done
The answer comes
Jesus succumbs
To His certain fate
From those who hate
Accepting for us
Acting on purpose
Becoming our sin
Suffering within
Bitter the taste
Of lives of waste
As dregs are taken
By One forsaken
Bearing His cross
At a deadly cost
Upon a dark hill
By His Father’s will
He took the pain
Bled the stain
Of moral gravity
A world of depravity
As Jesus cries
Before He dies
For everyman’s soul
Skies turn cold
He asks forgiveness
For those who give less
Without heart or love
For our Father above
At last He gives up
Yielding His cup
Humanity’s malice
A bitter chalice

God bless~
My only "critique" if you want to call it that is that a LOT of people did something about the cup of Christ in some form. Generally speaking, if it seems like an obvious choice, especially for a Christian site, you can bet others will have the same idea. There are ways to make the same general idea unique too, though.
I liked this poem. Nice job.
God bless!
