Previous Challenge Entry (Level 2 – Intermediate)
Topic: Cross (as in the Cross of Christ) (08/17/06)
Take one side, the lost side, whose only way of life is the one they see. Too wrapped up in their surroundings, they are blinded by the truth. Deep inside of them, there is a longing for something more, something unseen. They spend their lives trying to fill this void with things that are seen. They are bitter on the inside, always wanting more in life, they want something more fulfilling, sustaining, but in their blind world nothing satisfies their appetite.
Take the other side, seeing all of this pain wishing they could break through, but how? This side knows that the blind shouldn’t have to live their lives this way, that there is a better way. A peaceful life, a loving life, a life where they are accepted for who they are this is the life designed for them. The decision is made; innocent blood must be shed for the guilty, so that they can bridge the gap.
This act of love, the giving up of life so that life can be lived, is at the core of every human heart. It calls us to cast off our darkness, and to open our eyes to light. To live life the way life was intended to be lived, with purpose, with happiness, with peace. To give God the glory He truly deserves and to experience what life with God is like. We have lived a slave to ourselves for too long, God gives us the option of living freely in His grace. For the cross was not meant to condemn us, but to forgive us of everything we’ve done. No matter where you are, you are accepted, you are loved, and you have hope. You just need to cross the bridge God made.

Every word true, and aptly stated. You're a talented enough writer to branch out in a fresher direction--this essay is perhaps familiar territory to many here. I encourage you to stretch a bit in your future writings--you've got what it takes.
