Topic: Valley (08/10/06)
Isaiah 2:4 (NIV) He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.

If you have ever driven in the mountains, you get to see valleys far below. How peaceful they look. Such a site is breathtaking, to say the least. It gives witness to God’s handiwork when he created nature. It’s awesome to think that he created it all by merely speaking it into existence.

Have you ever realized that God looks down from heaven and sees the earth? All of it looks like a valley, I’m sure. Can you imagine what he must see?

The Black Smoke of Evil

Many would immediately contend that God sees the evils of this world. They might resemble the burning of car tires. Such smoke is indeed black and it’s stench burns the nostrils. Whatever you do, don’t ever breathe such fumes.

Many of the “dooms day” folks of the body of Christ are quite sure that God sees evil when he looks down into the valley of earth. They would also have us to tremble in fear because God is about to unleash his wrath upon mankind. “If God spares earth,” they say. “He would have to apologize for his reactions to Sodom and Gomorrah.”

The Sweet Aroma Of The Saints

Yes, this world is beset by all kinds of evils. Yes, the day of the Lord will come one day and the wicked will be cast into outer darkness. Yes, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Look! What is this that parts the black smoke and stench of evil. It is the light of the Lord coming from those who trust in him and believe on him. Surely, he rejoices to see their activities: praise, worship, praying, witnessing, evangelizing, etc. God sees the fruit of the saint’s obedience and rejoices as their numbers grow.

Behold, I Make All Things New

As God looks down upon this valley called earth, he sees his plan unfolding before his very eyes. He will cause his saints to flourish and the crescendo of spiritual force will culminate in the perfect day that God is preparing. In that time, there will be no need to train for war anymore, as the lions will lie down with the lambs. Peace will have come to earth and God will walk with believers in the cool of the day as Adam and Eve enjoyed before the fall.

Get a vision of God’s total plan. Cross out the dimension of time, if you can. Look ahead beyond our meager existence and take hold of God’s promise of eternal peace and everlasting love.

I liked the contrasting images, and the idea that the whole earth is God's valley. I think you could expand this a bit too, and perhaps include some other possible views of the valley of earth.
