"Son, forget the past and press on," he urges earnestly.
Vividly, I remember his kind beaming face, strong bright eyes and his voice of clarity and firmness. He strikes me as authentic and sincere. His firm hand shake sends warmth that glows in my spine. I am still electrified by my last encounter with him. Impressively, this man's character and charisma are phenomenal. Should I not take his words seriously?
Never will I forget some of his other instructive and inspiring advice too. " Don't dwell on the bygones, but on whatever is honourable, worthy, focus on these things." Wow, that is vey sound advice for me. I wish I had heeded such beneficial tips earlier in life. No wonder so many people suffer from psychosomatic health issues because unsound ideas or unwholesome thoughts are actively operating in their minds.
These parting words spring to mind with fondness because they come from the lips of a great man of wisdom and endurance. He has been under house arrest for preaching the good news to the ordinary people, religious folks and even power-brokers.
I have always fought shy of making resolutions at the threshold of a new year. It either makes me fake or insincere. My dismal track records show that I have never succeeded in keeping them for long. Whatever resolutions I resolve to fulfil, I fail to preserve them ultimately.
Well, there are a few splendid ideas for me to work at my resolution or resolutions for 2016. To stay humble, I'd like to echo his words, " I've not reached it yet and I 'm still pressing on." Life hasn't finished with me; I'm still growing and learning!
