Recently, my wife and I visited a church pastored by her previous church friend. A particular lady has impressed me most by her joy ,enthusiasm and warmth. She is a nurse and insisted on pushing my wife's wheel chair. Later, she shared with us her secret of becoming a certified nurse. With little qualifications she worked at a private clinic and learnt to dress up wounds for those who turned up at the clinic. She wasn't trained at all,yet she was willing to help others. She admitted that many a time she had no idea about wound dressing but she prayed for wisdom whenever she attended to the wounds. The wounds usually healed wonderfully, she testified. Soon the doctor saw her potential and recommended her to a professional course in nursing. My heart leapt with joy when I heard it. I rather have her simple faith than to have an avalanche of Bible knowledge . Her faith exudes trust and obedience. Something that I am inspired to model on.
Suddenly, it dawns on me that Moses actually made the common mistake of serving God in human ways. Didn't he try to deliver the Israelites in Egypt in his own strength and wisdom? In the end, he fled for his life. (Exodus 2:11-15) Similarly, he wanted to quench the people's thirst by beating the rock furiously. The Lord saved his face but denied him from going to the Promised Land. Yes, trust and obedience, indeed,go hand in hand, don't they?
