There are vines in the southeastern part of the United States called “Kudzu”. These vines are taking over the landscape. They change trees, bushes and power lines into forms that take the shapes of huge, looming monsters or large, wild animals, such as, hippos, monkeys, or even camels.
Kudzu, though it is used for erosion control, can also be a destructive even fatal foe to the trees and bushes that it consumes. It covers the tree or bush and blocks the oxygen that they need to survive.
This reminds me of how sins are to us. They look appealing, drawing us into its clutches, masquerading as something it’s not. When left ignored it consumes us and becomes a destructive and sometimes fatal foe to our spiritual well-being.
Just like the Kudzu, sins must be pulled away from us to keep us from becoming a victim of its all consuming cover.
While there are no herbicides that totally wipes out Kudzu. There is one that can eradicate the horrible vines of sin that consumes its victims. Our herbicide for sins is the blood of Jesus, which takes away our sins and gives us life anew.
So when you feel overcome by the sins that so easily beset you. Look to the One, who can free you from the grip of the vines of sin and set you free.
