The loss of human life was staggering to say the least. New York City suffered the loss of nine million lives. Philadelphia and Washington DC each suffered the loss of three million lives. Boston lost two million residents.
“This is unbelievable, unbelievable.”Those were the only words Marine Lieutenant General Evan Yost could manage to speak while addressing a room full of Marine Generals and Colonels.
“General Yost,” spoke Colonel Landon Newbourne, “has President Zolonzi issued Marshall Law in all of the cities that were bombed?”
“That is a good question that needs addressing ASAP. From what I have gathered from The Secretary of Defense and Major General Bodie Wainwright, the President issued orders for Marshall Law in all of the states along the entire Eastern Seaboard.” Spoke General Yost in a somber tone.
President Eli Zolonzi was the first US President elected that was a Christian Jew. The President became a Christian two years before he was elected and now was a devout Christian Jew. He was the first US President to be elected as an Independent Moderate candidate. Not since the days of John F Kennedy, had anyone captured the majority of Americans hearts as had President Zolonzi. His only detractors were those on the extreme right and left.
Later that evening, the entire cabinet met in a remote secret location in the mountains of Western North Carolina about 35 miles from Asheville, NC. The White House had been totally destroyed in the blast, but the president and his cabinet had managed to get out of DC 30 minutes before the blast. DC was the last place to be bombed.
“General Wainwright, have you received any intelligence from CIA Director Martin about who is taking responsibility for the bombings?” Demanded the President.
“Mr. President,” spoke Wainwright, “just five minutes ago, the terrorist group Al Jezziah announced that it is taking responsibility for all of the bombings. This group has grown in numbers to over 125,000 followers. Their leader, Mulzham Helfizi just released a video with demands from his group, and you will not like one bit of what his demands are.”
“Helfizi is demanding that all Jewish Synagogues in America must be destroyed and replaced with Masques and a statue of him made out of pure silver and gold.” spoke Wainwright through gritted teeth.
“General Wainwright; I need to know everything, no matter how bad things are. We have to measure all of the pros and cons in order to make a sane, rational decision of what course of action we will follow. We all know beyond a shadow of doubt, that there are many in our ranks that are chomping at the bit to unleash our superior arsenal of thermonuclear warheads. We will pray for the Lord to show us what he wants from us.”
The president knew that praying for God’s guidance and wisdom would lead him, his staff, and key military people, down the road of recovery and redemption.
“I want to know how many nuclear ICBMs are needed to wipe out the terrorists. Gentlemen and ladies, I hope and pray we will not go down that road. I know that God will soon show what he wants us to do. I have confidence in the Lord that he will answer our prayers and will show us the way.”
The prayer vigil lasted 16 hours. When the President emerged from his bunker, he addressed the nation and the world:
“I want all good people in this nation and world, to rise up and form prayer groups that have one common thread. We as a nation can both come together and follow God’s will, or become a country of factions that will ultimately lead to America’s destruction.
Up until an hour ago, I was almost ready to pull the trigger and unleash a nuclear holocaust that would have killed over 800 million people whose souls would have likely gone to the nether-regions apart from God for all eternity.
From this day forward, I and millions of Christians will pray and follow the path of peace laid before us. God will bring those who are responsible for this horrific act to justice. We will be better people and will trust the Lord to provide healing for our nation.”

Great job.
God bless~
This is a good story to remind us of our responsibility to pray for our leaders as we seek to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
This was an interesting scenario.
If this is your style of stories, develop the descriptive aspects of it.
I agree your stories always send clear heartfelt messages.
Prayer is indeed a powerful weapon!!
God Bless Always!
No one wants to think that this would ever happen to our great country, but the writing is on the wall, I think.
Thanks for reminding us how fragile freedom can be.
Great job!
One thought--shouldn't "marshall law" be "martial law"?
Anyway, good story, if a bit scary! It left me wondering what happened next... :)
Definitely a timely message. It makes you sit up and think about where the world is headed.
I only have two little red ink comments. First this line: Spoke General Yost in a somber tone. I wonder if you meant it to be a tagine at first. Written like this, it needs the quote to be a full sentence, but switch it around, and it can stand on it's own as a powerful, complete sentence: General Yost spoke in a somber tone.
The other thing is I noticed you used the word that when it should be who. I see this mistake on a daily basis. It should read like this:President Eli Zolonzi was the first US President elected who was a Christian Jew.
Overall, I think this is a great story. There have been a lot of doomsday stories about the downfall of the US, but this one is out of the box because of the great ending. You have a wonderful way of developing characters, building suspense, and pulling the reader into the story.
