Alone except for my friend, "The Silence"
I reflect upon my day.
Hours filled with the noise of work,
"A good thing", some would say.
At last the moments I cherish most,
Peace and time to pray.
I listen for the smallest sounds
Both near and far away.
And then it comes, the gentle "ping";
A single, soulful raindrop may
Have touched upon my window sill,
Inviting me to play.
His friends join in to tap the roof
With a medley and lyrics too.
They begin to sing a brand new song
Arriving right on cue.
Some percuss against the roof
While others find the vents.
Others join to rap the doors
To signify their presence.
As tempo and the volume grow
The song becomes a chorus.
Falling drops on this and that
Create a melodic focus.
The song is now a symphony,
No wait, it's so much more:
A cantata of simple, sacred sounds,
A heavenly music score.
And now it tapers down the scale
To let the others in.
The sound of rain against the plants
Inhabiting my garden.
Then as subtly as these drops appeared
They begin to fade away.
And I am left with sweet memories
Of a wondrous end to day.

God bless~
"A Silence" is "the Rests" that hold the music together and make it come alive.
You did some research on music or have had some training in it.
I can hear the shower coming and going.
At firt I thought the focus was on quite times with God, but then the focus shifted to rain. Or could it be a combination of both? That part for me is a little confusing.
Nevertheless, a lovely poem. Your rhymes were well thought out.
