Kathryn was quite beautiful and so petite. She was oldest of the five children. Her siblings’ paled beneath her wit and charm.
Kathryn had common sense. She mastered the basics in all her studies but did not excel in any of them. Even in a family of this size she would still stand out. Master Reynolds would have to be told.
“Sir, could I have a word with you?” Miles looked at Kathryn’s father, who was not young by any means.
“Yes, Miles, what is it?”
“Sir, it’s about Kathryn.” He went on with his story as he shut the door behind him.

After the meeting with Miles, Grayson was taken back a little. He knew since his wife passed, he hadn’t been involved with the children as he once was. Pity, he could see now that time had escaped him. He must find a suitable husband for his daughter. She would soon turn nineteen.
Brad Tate was the most eligible bachelor right now. “I must talk with his family.” Si Reynolds said to himself as he reached for the telephone.
Kathryn was sitting in the lounge area of their big old home. Kathryn saw no need in such studies. Her heart belonged to Jesus. This realization came about on her last visit to her Aunt Deride. She had gone to her Aunt’s church and received her Salvation through Jesus. What a feeling that had touched her form her head to her toes!
Mother would have understood all of this. The new Pastor had talked with her after the service; he had invited her and her Aunt to dinner on the eighteenth.

“Hello, Mother and Father. I am sorry I am late but I have had so much to do since taking over the Baptist church. I haven’t been home three weeks and I am already behind. So what’s this urgent news you need to talk to me about?” Brad looked at his parents.
“Son, we want to talk to you about Kathryn Reynolds, you see her father came to us with a proposition concerning you both. He wants to marry his daughter off to you. He is willing to pay a huge diary he says. I don’t know what to think of this myself.”
“My goodness, Father, you can’t be serious, no one does this now a days, did he say why?”
“Although she has beauty she has no means to take care of herself. She is not real bright might I say; I am quoting her father. And I am sure he has no idea what you do for a living”.
Brad broke out in laughter; it was such a hearty laugh his parents didn’t know what to make of it.
“You don’t know Kathryn, why she just gave her heart to the Lord a few weeks ago at the church. She is beautiful but smart also. I do have dinner plans with her and her Aunt for next Friday.” Brad scratched his beard as he always did when he was in deep thought. “I still cannot believe her father.”
Brad did think that Kathryn was a very beautiful young lady, and he felt an attraction to her, but he couldn’t think of marrying her just because her father wanted it.” Brad sighed as he reached for his coat. “Let me think on this father, do not answer him yet, please.”

Kathryn had made up her mind that she would tell her father that she wanted to study in a Bible School. She felt this desire tugging at her heart.
Her father was shocked, but he agreed. Kathryn had to leave three days later. The new semester started then. Father had to pull some strings but she knew in her heart that this was right for her.
Maybe later they could meet again, she needed to do this. Her Aunt took care of telling Pastor Brad.
Miles looked at his former charge, what a change she had made. No more was she out of place, but placed in the hands of the Lord.
