Topic: Guard Your Heart (06/08/12)
“Guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.”

This is a true statement whether we consider it from a physical aspect or from the spiritual aspect.

We are advised to give consideration to what we eat and drink; we must consider enough exercise but not too much exercise; we must rest enough, we must drink sufficient amounts of water; oh, the list is longer yet of things we must consider to keep our physical hearts in good health.

But where is the list of necessities for the keeping of our “heart,” that part of us that thinks and feels emotions?

We seldom, if ever see front pages of magazines offering us instructions as to how we may guard the heart of our spirits. We should ask ourselves why, and we would question why if only we understood the significant importance of the information.

“As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” That is information from the Bible; the Community of Science is finding that to be a true statement.

We are advised in the Scriptures to beware of the thoughts we think and of the words we say; we are warned also to be alert regarding the things we allow to enter through the eye gate into the soul. We are told to read the Scriptures daily and to reflect on them continually. We are told to keep our hearts with all diligence, for out of the heart are the issues of life.

The reality of the two hearts is that the spiritual heart controls and transcends the physical heart. That which flows from the spiritual heart will determine how we live, whether wisely or decadently.

There is rising proof that the thoughts with which we agree do most profoundly affect our physical health.

If the physical heart ceases to function it does not stop the spiritual heart, which will continue forever.

These are serious matters upon which we must reflect.

The spiritual and the physical are knit together and the truth is that there is only spiritual.

We agree with the good spiritual life available to us or we agree with the evil spiritual life avilable to us, and the decision regarding which shall rule is made in our heart that thinks and feels.

Life is all about the heart.

All the focus on the physical heart these days is important, but you've touched on what is TRULY critical. Well done.

This is a beautiful piece. You have so many powerful truths in here3. lately as one phase of my life is ending, I've found that I am having panic attacks and fear dying. Your line about the two hearts gave me a sense of hope I haven't felt in weeks.

Make sure if you use any scriptures that you cite them as well as state which translation the quote is from.

This is certainly on topic. I love the last line. You packed a lot of power and wisdom into 6 words.
