When I hear of some things that go on in our world I real wonder if there is such a thing as justice?
Famines in Africa (again), wars raging in countries too poor to stop them, corruption in the highest forms of government, and they all seem to get away with it! Couple that with the ‘giving fatigue’ we hear about in the west and I really wonder if there is such a thing as justice.
There is the World court, where war criminals are brought, tried and found guilty, then they’re sentenced to long terms where the UN takes care of all their needs and even gives them the right to a TV in a place called Prison, yet their victims had no such luxuries, they often got torture and if they were fortunate they got a quick bullet to the back of the head.
There just doesn’t seem to be any justice in the world. But then I remember that the Law is the Law and if you break any part of it then you break all of it.
The other week I got stopped for speeding, a simple little infringement, until you look at what could have been. How often have we lambasted the cop who pulled us up and said that they should be ‘out catching real criminals’ not realizing that on his last shift he had to clean up a mess made by a speeding driver who went through a fence and killed two of his/her passengers, or carried away the body of one too drunk to drive yet still climbed behind the wheel and killed a couple!
Even speeding can kill, and someone who does it is basically saying they don’t really care if they kill someone! (Just like the war criminal). Yet how often have we done that?
There may not be justice in this world, but I’m glad that we do have some mercy, maybe I should show it a bit more to others, just like Jesus did.
