She knew she only had minutes to get to safety, rushed to get Joey out of his crib and ran downstairs to the basement. The house started to shake; hearing the noise, Joey started to cry. Celeste hugged him, hoping to calm him down.
A few minutes later, the sound went away; it was just as quiet as if nothing had happened. You could hear birds singing outside.
Wanting to be safe, she decided to wait at least ten minutes before she would venture upstairs. When Celeste walked through the door, to her amazement, nothing had been touched; everything was in place just as it was before she went downstairs.
She then walked outside and saw the devastation. It looked like a bomb went off in her neighborhood. Celeste then got down on her knees and praised God that he saved her life and her home.
Celeste only had minutes to get downstairs. She and her husband owned this house for twenty-eight years and in minutes she could have died and the house could have been destroyed. On September 11, 2001 it only took minutes to change our country forever. In a few minutes many people died that day. There will be a day where we will have only minutes to live before Jesus takes us home. We need to remember that life can change in only minutes.
