Determined by faith to give my marriage a fight
I’m bombarded by hurtful memories form the past night
How the conversation took place but didn’t end right
The distance I feel is far as heaven is from land
You are speaking a language I DON’T UNDERSTAND
You say that you love me and that your heart is mine
We’ve been in love for years and everything’s fine
Yet there’s no more time to date, flirt or dine
Our communication is nonexistent it’s time to draw the line
I need clarification an established plan
You are speaking a language I DON’T UNDERSTAND
What’s on your mind is a mystery to me
If I could share my thoughts my soul would be free
I am opening my heart in hope you will see
I don’t want to give up and just let things be
I want to submit but I need a clear command
You are speaking a language I DON’T UNDERSTAND
The compliments are gone the smiles are erased
Our alone time is shattered and our visions replaced
By sharp sarcastic words that make me feel abased
How can you be content in this disturbing place
Stand with me and fight please take hold of my hand

I remember the intimacy the sweet tender touch
How without saying a single word you loved me so much
Now we’re using work and children as a crutch
You’re speaking Latin and I’m speaking Dutch
Our wires are crossed and have gotten out of hand
You are speaking a language I DON’T UNDERSTAND
Now I am unsure my esteem worn by fear
Wounded in heart and on the verge of tears
Grappling to find my way back to the lovable years
When you were my beau and I was your dear
But love is the one thing that I can’t demand
You are speaking a language I DON’T UNDERSTAND
The relationship is in a downward regression
Headed toward ruin and soon after depression
What we need is a spiritual counseling session
From those who have been here and have mastered the lesson
Who know when to back off and when to take a stand
You are speaking a language I DON’T UNDERSTAND
I’m desperate to have things as they were before
This feeling of despair I’m determined to ignore
The distance and apathy has an evil core
You’re okay with less and I’m seeking for more
There’s no truth to my feelings you say not a strand
You are speaking a language I DON’T UNDERSTAND
So now I must wage the warfare alone down on my knee
Take my burdens to the Lord the one who can see
The depths of my heart and the pain of my plea
And the words that I want you to plainly tell me
I’ll build on the rock and not on the sand
You are speaking a language I DON’T UNDERSTAND
As God cleans our hearts and establish our ways
We’ll find our way back to the wonderful days
We’ll study and love and laugh and pray
Our love was from above and that’s where it should lay
We’re a match made from heaven a peculiar brand
Let’s speak the language of love WE BOTH UNDERSTAND
