As Sandy was about to speak, click the line went dead. She felt frustrated and then called Pastor Dave.
The phone rang five times; a voice answered, “Hello, this is Pastor Dave.”
“This is Sandy, Pastor I just got so nervous.”
Pastor paused for a second, confused, “Nervous about what?”
Sandy said quickly, “I tried to call Representative Ron Abrams office, about the Waiting Period Bill, but I couldn't get anything out of my mouth.”
“What made you nervous?” asked the Pastor.
Sandy sighed, “I never called a about a political issue before and I don’t think he will take me seriously.”
Pastor in a reasuringly said, “Sandy, having a 24 hour waiting period before an abortion will save babies. You have ran a crisis pregnancy center for 20 years. You have told me about the many number of babies that were lost because there was no waiting period. I think you have had experience in the pro-life movement that will make Representative Abrams want to listen to you.”
Sandy stuttered for a second, “I juuust get nervous about call...ing his office.”
“Didn't you just get a computer, Sandy?” asked Pastor.
“Yes I did,” said Sandy.
You could hear the smile in pastor's voice when he said, “Problem solved, why not e-mail him? It does not cost anything, you don’t have to worry about getting nervous, and you can make concise points. Do you have an e-mail account?”
“No, I don’t, I am afraid that I might get a virus.”
Pastor laughed for a second, “Sandy you're just being silly. You won’t get a virus.”
Knowing she lost the battle, Sandy responded, “Okay, I will try it.
Sandy got an e-mail account and wrote her representative.
Dear represenative Abrams:
I have owned the Caring Hands Crisis Pregnancy Center for about 20 years. In that time I have had many women despite my best efforts, get an abortion because they were in a hurry. I think a 24 hour waiting period and an explanation of the procedure is very important. The thing you have to remember is a abortion is a medical procedure just like someone getting an open heart operation. This will save many lives; women need to know what they are getting themselves into. Please vote for this Bill

Sandy found out that the legislation passed. It made her less scared to contact her elected representatives.
