TITLE: IT IS HARD TO BE IN A DILEMMA | Previous Challenge Entry

I am in such a dilemma. I have a granddaughter who is totally blind, yet has beautiful, expressive eyes, and is hard for many to believe that she sees nothing. This was the result of a car accident, at which time we were told that she would not live; but God answered our deepest prayers, and she has come a long way.
It has been many years since the car accident that took her sight, and left her to struggle to re-learn all that she had learned at the age of15. This period of time did strengthen her Faith in Jesus Christ, as she struggled against all odds, learned Braille, and graduated from high school at 21 years of age.
After many years, and the prayers of many, Rachel was hired to do a job in a food service field where she was to make burritos, salads, and parfait cups. She has her own table to work from, but the job requires other workers to get the things that she needs to work with, and bring them to her. She is unable to use a key and open the cooler to get out the cheese, tortillas, and other ingredients she needs to do her job. She really is very fast with her hands, and seems to have a stronger feeling of touch than most of us.
Now, I will try to explain my dilemma. Nearly every day she works, she is so sad, and calls me in tears, to tell me of all the problems she encountered at work. People just will not walk to the cooler to bring her things that she needs, or they will bring only part and she is unable to work while waiting for people who say they will get the things for her and do not.
She is in danger of losing her job because of the time it takes her to perform her tasks. Yet, she cannot work when others will not bring the things she needs, and therefore, she cannot possibly finish her work on time, when there is so much time that is wasted, just waiting for help.
She also encounters problems when she is checked out and waiting for her ride. She asks if there is an empty place she can sit and wait for her ride. She is told, “Yes, there is a chair right over there” She will say, “I can’t see, would you show me? To which the person replies, “Over by the window.” She replies, “I’m sorry, I am blind, where is the window?” Then, there is usually a “humph’” after which they may take her to the chair. She has worked at this place 8 months. It seems the workers should realize her handicap and show some compassion by now.
How can a grandmother discern what is the best thing for her to do, or to suggest what she could do otherwise? She needs to work, and her own house is not enough for her to do. She deeply desires to make her own way, and to be independent.
God gave her this job in answer to prayer; and I keep asking Him for the solution to this problem. Sometimes I feel my faith wavering, and I ask God to help my unbelief. I believe God saved her life for a purpose. She does her best to have good attitudes so that others will see Christ in her. I pray that God will help all of us who love her, to have the discernment to give her the right advice and encouragement.
