When we were going over the rules at the beginning of the week, there was the traditional no swimming without a lifeguard, no staying out after dark, etc. But one rule that we found funny at the time, was a No Purple rule. The leaders’ explanation was, boys are blue, girls are red, we don’t want purple. They didn’t want boys in girl’s cabins and vise versa.
There was this girl in my cabin who liked this guy. He was attractive, I’ll admit. She found this rule a difficult one. But, at the end of the week, there was this lesson on sexual immorality. It discussed leaving your body for your spouse. This girl, she realized that having sex was not good to have at a young age, thankfully.
Even today, we laugh and joke about No Purple. Even mentioning the color purple triggers giggles from us. But, despite all the laughter and silliness, we understood the lesson behind No Purple. We know not to have a sexual relationship until we are married. It was a lesson, with a ton of laughter and joking thrown in. Purple, though it sounds great through the media and images, is something to wait on.

We never had that rule when we were young...I think it's great! Right on with the topic too!
