One day, in his walks with the Lord, he met a young girl. Something about her caught his eye, but as to what it was, he couldn’t say. With friendly smile, he approached her, and struck up a conversation. How surprised he was to discover how deep the girl was! They talked and talked, until abruptly, the young man stopped. “Oh, I’m sorry, did I interrupt your journey?”
The young girl smiled and laughed. “Not at all. I'm heading in the same direction.”
In the course of circumstances, they were thrown into each other’s company more and more frequently. The young man’s heart did so beat with the desire for missions that to have an eager and sympathetic listener warmed him. Subconsciously, he began to look forward to being around the young girl; every day without hearing her sweet voice was felt keenly. How sharply he drew in his breath, upon realizing the depth of his feelings.
Troubled, he knelt and prayed. “Lord, what is this? Oh, please show me Your will!”
A few days passed before he saw the young girl again; and when he did, he was several meters ahead of her, in a bend of the road. Shrubbery hid him from plain view, and yet from his position he could watch her quite easily. Quietly he observed while his heart prayed, “O Lord, why is it that am I drawn to her?”
The young man faintly heard the soft tread of her approach; his earnest brown eyes took in the sweet smile playing across her fair lips. He wondered at the expression of contentment shining in her clear blue eyes. On the fragrant breeze wafted to him a strain of heavenly melody the young girl was humming. Was it her lovely expression...was it her ability in song that attracted him? The young man shook his head. No, not quite.
Suddenly, he noted the slight tilt of her slender chin. Her gaze...heavenward. He saw the young girl’s expression grow brighter and sweeter as she looked and looked. Then, for the first time, he noticed her simple attire.
It was pure white.
