I see you across the room. You are a brooding dark-shaded hue. I want to make your hurting stop by simply embracing you, but a mere touch seems that it would break you into a thousand or more unidentifiable pieces. Your stare pierces the atmosphere leaving jagged flecks of ice suspended in mid-air like a scene from a Matrix-like movie.
I approach your presence warily hoping that something, anything I do will melt the frigid barrier that separates you from the warmth of reality, but the closer I get the more I feel a bitter arctic wind emanate from your soul.
The room is filled with bodies that either deny or ignore your existence. They act as if you are an inanimate fixture, but I, with courage and strength, advance like a soldier on a reconnaissance mission.
I cannot understand why the others cannot or will not acknowledge you. Why do they not take a step and then another to bridge the communication gap and cross the line of conformity?
You are human, just like them: flesh and bones, mind and matter, ideas and inspirations. The scripture says that you are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 139:14 NKJV Holy Bible
And you are.
You just don’t know it.
You are a marvelous and miraculous work of art hand-crafted by your Maker.
You were not conceived to satisfy society’s desires or manufactured solely for its use.
I step into your space and unashamedly speak. Introductions are unnecessary.
“Hey.”
“Hey,” you say.
“I’d like to get to know you.”
“So why don’t you?”
Blue, you have convinced me to converse without guilt tactics or the need to coerce. Instantly our inner thoughts and feelings coincide. The path to a relationship lies in communication we find.
I belong to you and you are mine.
And for the first time in my life, I feel connected with someone with whom I can identify.
I should.
I have a newfound friend.
We share a common bond, a common name, and in actuality, we are the same.
Thank you, Blue. You are one with me, and I am one with you.
Truly yours,
Me
