She was walking home from the school through the lonely streets where her classmates Maria and Matt lived. They won’t come with her. Nobody to come with her. She was alone.
She passed by the apple tree in Matt’s house. There were apples scattered under the tree by the forcing wind. No one is interested in using them. Angeline liked apples very much. But who would give her. She didn’t have the courage to pick them up. Who cares to give her an apple?
“I am also just like that unwanted apple. Nobody wants me,” thought her little mind.
“None to love me. Neither at home, nor at school.”
Angeline is a four year old child. She has just joined the Kindergarten about half a mile away. Every day she comes to school. No one cares that she is alone. Even her mom and dad don’t talk or play with her. Who bothers that she likes to play outside.
All her play is taking her dark head doll and go outside and look at the white clouds and imagine what it would feel like to have a real family that loved her and to have brothers and sisters to play with her.
Angeline likes apples, apple pie and so many other things. But who would give her anything? This little child has no one to care for her. Not even her mom.
Alone. None to play with. Loneliness brings only tear drops that roll like little beads of sorrow. Her heart aches. May be in doing so she can bury a part of those sorrowful days.
Some thing suddenly flashed the little mind.
The words she heard some time back in a church service.
“Have faith in God ; He cares the weeping children.”
Something made her stop. She didn’t even look around. She knelt on the road and prayed. She asked God to help her parents be better parents. She asked God to send people to love her.
Angeline’s mom always looked sad and rarely talked to her. She had her parents and other relatives; but no body would come to their house as she married her dad whom they didn’t like. He child’s grandparents didn’t like their marriage. Her uncle had three children. He also was not in good terms with her mom. Her mom also was afraid to go to them.
Angeline always feared her father. He scolded her. Often he punished her cruelly for uncommitted mistakes. Her mom had told her that he was a nice fellow in the beginning but after Angeline was born he turned cruel and became a drunkard. Unlucky child. No wonder he never plays with her. Her mom also would have the same feeling.
Angeline’s dad is working somewhere far away. He comes only occasionally. But whenever he comes he would be shouting at her mom making her weep.
Angeline and her mom live in a small house in the outskirts of the village. She struggled hard without a job.
After a long time, she found a job recently. At least now she can save some money to purchase a pink doll for Angeline.
A tapping sound brought back Angeline from her thoughts. Another apple ha fallen down from the tree. So far she has been kneeling and praying.
“Oh God! Are there many children like me without anybody to love?” She prayed for them also.
“God, give us people to love, I know if I believe You can give me people to love,” the little heart craved for love. She is now sure that God will hear her prayer.
She gets up with that childish heart. Hurries home to see if God has answered her prayers. He is the Unfailing Father. Her little heart hopes the words told in the church have more strength. A surprise awaited at home.
The prayer of a child was heard!
