Its very interesting how two small words of two and three letters respectively shaped the
Destiny of the sons of Isaac they are IN and OUT
After a difficulty pregnancy Rebecca Isaacs’s wife inquired of the lord what was going on. In Gen 25: 23 [NKJV] and I quote “and the lord said to her two nations are in your womb, two peoples shall be separated from your body, one people shall be stronger than the other, the older shall serve the younger”
When God answered Rebecca the two words IN and OUT went into motion, to affect the lives of two boys for ever.
First ESAU came from the womb and that did him in, so to speak. The lord had said that the older will serve the younger, so when Esau came OUT first he unfortunately qualified to serve his brother
Without being unfair to Esau, I see the two words working on his life and having major implications and bearings that affected his destiny.
Second I am sure he is the one who chooses a career that took him out in the field that is hunting, no offence intended for the guys that work out there.
His decision to be a hunter brought division to that family. He cooked for his father and his father loved him, so that naturally drove Rebecca to love the other boy. There was division in the kitchen.
One day when he came from the fields and hungry, he begged his brother to feed him with stew. This was the moment Jacob was waiting; he literally traded the stew with Esau’s birthright. The younger brother was clever; he knew how powerful words are spoken under an oath.
You see words never grow old, time went by and Isaac was growing old and infact Esau got married at forty to two lives.
Isaac called Esau and asked him to prepare his favorite food so that he could bless him before he died.
Once again Isaac used the word ‘out’ in Genesis 27:3(NKJV) the bible says “Now therefore please take your weapons, your quiver and your bow and go “out” to the field and hunt game for me”
Unfortunately for Esau, that was the moment his foolishness came back to find him out. His mother was listening and she quickly put into place a clever plan to deny Esau his blessings. Esau had to be out in the homestead OUT, OUT in the field.
During his outing, his brother came “in” with the goodies his father loved and he obtained the blessing, You see timing in life is very important, Esau out and Jacob in and both of their destinies were shaped in that very moment!
Later Esau came in from the fields and prepared food for his father but it was too late, his father had already spoken out the blessing to Jacob. Verse 30 of chapter 27 in Genesis (NKJV) is very interesting and I quote “Now it happened as soon as Isaac had finished blessing Jacob, as Jacob had scarcely gone “out” from the presence of Isaac his father then Esau his brother came “in” from hunting.”
Life is governed by words, it does not matter whether it’s a twenty-six or two letter word, and it shapes our destiny and the quality of life we live. Let’s say if Esau is given a second chance to live the words “in and out”, what about you?
God bless!
