Getting there isn’t easy, it’s a very long road to travel, with many stops and starts, and transfers between all the different travel modes. There is just so much to see and do along the way. Of course, what the trip there is like depends on which road you take, but all the roads seem to be under constant construction and there are so many detours!
I’ve never actually gotten to see our family home, but it has been described to me so many times I feel like I have. We talk about it a lot whenever we get together. I’m so excited; we’re going to have a family reunion. I’ll get to see family I haven’t seen in many years, and meet family members that have always been nothing more than stories and wonderful memories my parents have related to us.
I’ve heard so many wonderful descriptions of the family home. They say the view from there is spectacular, and you can see for what seems like forever. I also heard that the surrounding property is planted with several orchards and gardens, providing delicious fruit and fragrant flowers. There are smooth walkways everywhere to allow all of us to freely enjoy the sights and smells, and there’s even a river running right through the property. I think the surrounding area must be almost as beautiful as the home itself.
It’s a big place, with lots and lots of room for the whole family, why; we even have rooms specially planned just for each of us. Oh, I can hardly wait. Mom & Dad went on ahead of me, and so did my husband. I just wasn’t able to get away to join them till now. But my fare has already been fully paid. I’ve just been waiting for the right time. I have really missed them, but there was so much I still had to get done before I could leave, and now everything is completed. I am more than ready to be on my way.
Finally, my ticket has arrived and I can finish the very last leg of my trip. Our children and their families will be able to join us later. I can hardly wait till we are all together again, and the joyful reunion will continue on when they arrive.

Yes, I can see it now. There, just a little ways down the road. Oh, please hurry, driver. I will be so happy to get there, I’m so tired, and it has been such a long, eventful journey.
A soft whooshing sound of machinery could be heard in the background, and a voice spoke barely above a whisper.
“I’m going to turn your mom’s ventilator off now,” he quietly told the family, as the machines went silent.
Yes!
With her last breath, she reached out and opened the door—she was home, at last.
