Jenna and Mike had been sitting in his jeep talking about going on holidays’ with his church group to the mountains. Jenna was assuring Mike that her Dad was not as tough as he makes out. Mike was still apprehensive about asking her Dad, but he knew he had too. Tim, Jenna’s Dad was very protective of her, Mike walked boldly into Jenna’s home to see Tim and ask him too let Jenna go camping with him in the mountains of Colorado for a week. Jenna knew he was going away with his church group mountain climbing, but she had to let Mike ask her Dad.
Mike was greeted at the door by Jenna, hugging and giving her a quick kiss as he walked in He said hello to her father and sat down. They were chatting happily about the days events and then Mike said “Tim would you mind if Jenna spent a week away with me in the mountains of Colorado?” Tim was astounded at the boldness of Mike’s request. Mike explained, “Tim, I would like to go camping with my church group in the mountains” Tim knew the mountains are not that far away, but he expressed with some emotion “How safe do I know that Jenna will be?”, “I am competent mountain climber Sir!, and would take good care of her, I care for her deeply Sir.”
Tim said, “When are you due to leave Mike?” “Sunday morning Tim”, replied Mike. “AH! Well that gives me time to find her climbing gear in the shed Mike,” Tim, said with a smile and added, “Just promise me, Mike that you will look after her.”
Jenna and Mike spent a lot of time together over the next few days getting ready for their trek into the mountains. Saturday night they were doing the final preparations checking their climbing gear and preparing their back packs for an early start, to meet Mike’s friends at the church. Jenna and Mike spent the night together at her parent’s house, as it was closer to the church.
In the morning there was a clear sky, the birds were singing; Jenna and Mike were awake early and downstairs for a quick coffee before starting of for their weeks holiday. Outside the kids were packing Mike’s jeep before they left. Jenna’s parents sneaked outside to surprise them before they left. Hugging Jenna, and then Mike, he knew he wasn’t going to get away without her parents saying anything and sure to his thoughts they did. “Mike you look after our girl and bring her home safely.” “Yes sir!” and they jumped into the jeep and drove away waving to her parents.
