It’s not the fact that they have chosen to throw in the towel and call it quits, but how, with such ease they throw the gift of salvation to the ground. Discarded as if it’s some dirty useless rag. It pains the heart to see this happen, after all the times of hearing them talk of the endless love they said they had for their Savior.
I wonder what God thinks or how he feels when one of his children treats him as if he’s worthless and no longer needed. How many gutters and dark alleys did he bring them from, at the start? How many depression clinics did they visit before he found them, or how many bar stools did they have to occupy before they realized that God was calling them?
We will never know the ghosts that linger in each other’s closets, or the wounds that we each carry like tattoos from our past. We will never know how many times God applied his blood to our lives, forgiving us of our sins. But the one thing that we do know is this, if we walk with the Lord with all of our soul, mind and strength, He will sustain us and carry us through those places where we feel like just giving up.
There is strength in Him that we can have if we just draw close to Him. If we draw nigh unto Him, he will draw nigh unto us, and that is comforting to know. The scripture says, “He who dwells in the secret place of the most high, shall abide in the shadow of the almighty”. (kjv)
Are you feeling a little weak? Find that secret place and let Him strengthen you. Do you feel like you’re about to give in to the pressures of the day? Come on into His shadow and rest for a little bit. Let God comfort your for a while, He’s always there for you.
