Could be cut with a knife
As I settled down with pen in hand
To write “The Mystery of Life”
With lollipop tucked in my cheek
I penned a page or two
considering what evidence
and plot would be the glue
To hold my readers interest
in place as they would turn
each leaf with growing vast suspense
and cause them much to yearn
For verity to be exposed
what drove their suspect to
the act of maybe murder?
as they revealed every clue
My overcoat was getting warm
the proof too grew to be
like a chapter in Sherlock
or Agatha Christy
Thunder rolled above my head
and out went every light
as I fumbled in obscurity
like a person without sight
I quickly lit a candle
to finish what I started
then glanced at an embossed title
for the strong and fainthearted
A masterpiece well written
mixed with intrigue and history
silently drew my attentions
to this boundless mystery
I scanned through countless chapters
Hot on the long and narrow trail
Following a secret passage
Where my search would soon prevail
Words of great encouragement
Spoke truth to my finite open mind
Like “Knock and it shall be opened”
And “Seek and Ye shall find”
A myriad of questions
Filled me with a great desire
to investigate each scripture
and quench this inner fire
My looking glass though was dim
As I only see in part
One day I shall see Him as He is
Clearly through God’s heart
So on my head I don a cap
As I search for more truth
And button up my long overcoat
I am a supersleuth…
