Then during our lesson one afternoon, she silently told me, “I believe in Jesus as the mighty God, and I want to know Him and follow Him in my life.”
I was not able to talk at first. “Wow, praise and thank God!” In my heart, I was like, I did not even really talk to her directly about this. My heart was singing and thanking God for this turn of events.
“God proved real to me the other day,” Yan went on, “I lost my keys and I could not find them in the house, in my car, in my bag, everywhere!”
I nodded and smiled and let her go on with her story.
“Then I remembered that every Sunday at church people were sharing about how they prayed to God and God answered their prayers,” she continued, now excitedly.
“And?” I encouraged her to go on.
“And so I thought, maybe I could pray to God. But I told myself that maybe He could not be bothered by a set of keys,” she went on, “I keep remembering the sharing about God answering prayers. And that if He was real, He could help me find my keys. So I prayed to Him about this. I closed my eyes and asked Him to help me remember where my keys were,” Yan silently narrated.
“When I opened my eyes, I suddenly remembered that I needed to put a pair of shorts into the laundry basket. So I went to my bedroom and picked up my shorts. As I picked it up, my set of keys fell on to the floor!”
“That’s great!” I responded gladly.
“Yes, I was getting excited already as I knew God had answered my prayer! Now I know He is great and He loves me, He cares even for my lost keys,” Yan excitedly shared.
We closed our session that afternoon with a prayer, and my heart was so thankful to God for this. One soul added to His kingdom.
On the following Sunday, Yan bravely stood up to share about her experience with the Lord. Her face was so bright as she related her experience. It was a victory for her to even speak in public as she told me that she was not that confident of her English. I reminded her that this is not for her but for God’s glory. Everybody was so thankful to God for touching this young girl’s life. The greatest thanksgiving she could give to God was to testify of what He had done in her life, and to keep telling others about it wherever she went.
Yes, for us believers, that’s the greatest thanksgiving we can give for the free gift of salvation God has given us. Let us go and tell others so they too can give thanks to God!
