“Mom! Mom!” Jen hollered as she came crashing through the door a few days after she’d taken her math test.
“Goodness! What is it, Sweetie? You’re about to burst!”
“Yeah, Mom! I passed my math test! I studied sooo hard for it and I passed – I got a 99% I didn’t think I was going to, cuz this is really hard stuff, but I did!”
“Good for you, Jen! I’m really proud of you!”
Jen and her mom embraced and Jen went on her merry way to call her best friend and tell her the good news, too.

“Oh, Lord, I really need your help here. The conversation I’m facing with Marla is not one I’m looking forward to, but I know I must talk to her about this problem between us. Will you please help me as I phone her now? I need your strength. I really can’t do this without you.”
Ginger dialed Marla’s number with shaking fingers.
“Hello?” Marla’s sweet voice came over the line.
“Hey Marla, this is Ginger, I really need to talk to you.”
“Uh, OK, what’s up?” Marla’s voice sounding tentative, did nothing to help Ginger’s resolve to get things out in the open, but she determined to move forward.
“I’m going to get straight to the point here, Marla. I don’t like the tension that’s been between us lately and I think we need to get things cleared up.”
“Yeah, you’re right. I haven’t liked it either. You are my best friend and I don’t like this any more than you do. You go first.”
They talked for half an hour, each one voicing their hurt in the situation and apologizing for misunderstanding each other. When they hung up things were settled between them and both wore a smile on their face.
When Ginger’s husband got home from work, and they sat down to diner, she was quick to tell him what had happened that morning.
“Jim, you know how I told you the other day that Marla and I had something we needed to clear up. Well, I finally called her today and we talked for awhile and things are OK between us now. I’m so glad I finally called her. I just couldn’t stand the tension between us anymore. So, things are back to normal now. I feel so relieved.”
“That’s great, honey. Could you please pass the potatoes?”

“Lord, help! I can’t get this tire back on! I’m going to be late for work!” Fred struggled with the tire and finally got it on. He zipped off to work, making it just in the nick of time.
“Yeah, I’m telling you, I got a flat tire on the way to work, Matt. There I was on the side of a very busy road, changing my tire... I really thought I was going to be late for work. But I finally got it on and made it just in time!”
Matt slapped Fred on the back, “Good job, man! I’m glad you made it in time. I would have had to give you a warning had you been late again.”
“Yeah, I know. I’m really breathing a sigh of relief here. I guess my brute strength kicked in at the last minute,” Fred joked.

“God, I’ve got a deadline to meet here, please help me!” Kimberly cried out in frustration.
She hurriedly finished writing her article, sending it to the editor’s inbox with only a minute to spare.
After 10 minutes, her editor called her into his office. “Hey, Kimberly, this is the best piece of writing you’ve done yet! You got it to me just in time, too. You’re getting better all the time with your writing and at meeting your deadlines. Kudos to you!”
“Thanks, boss! I didn’t think I was going to make it, but at the last minute something just clicked and the story flowed through the keyboard! I’m glad I pulled it together” She laughed, the editor laughing with her.
“Keep up the good work! You keep writing like this and you’ll go places!”
“Thanks,” Kimberly called over her shoulder as she headed back to her desk. I did it!
