My lips bleed, cracked from the sun’s heat beating down on me. My tongue swollen and throat dry. My soul is parched and longing for a cool drink from you. You hold the cup of salvation in your tender and merciful hands. Have mercy on me, my Lord and savior. My bones are brittle and dehydrated. My vision blurred from the heat of the sun.
I am walking through a dry and barren land. I wander aimlessly through this dry place. I find no relieve or shelter from this path of dryness. I burn from lack of water. My skin blistered from the heat. I long for the water buried deep within your presence. How far must I travel before I reach the end of this valley and stand at the base of the next mountain?
I see a mirage, a tree, and a river.
I run toward it.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water…(Psalm 1:3 KJV)

I wondered about the "mirage" at the end, though. Seems like you were running toward something real.
Very visual writing, nicely done.
