God gives us a vision and then takes us back to the beginning to walk us through it. One of the hardest things to grab a hold of is the fact that God is going to accomplish what He says (Philippians 1:6). How can we trust the outcome when throughout our lives we have seen one failed promise after another. How can we believe that even God is going to come through with what He says, when He does NOTHING the way we think it should be done. God NEVER works things in the order or fashion of our thinking (Isaiah 55:8-9), but GREAT IS HIS FAITHFULNESS.
It is so hard to go to the beginning of something when you know the ending. It is so hard to go through the steps necessary to accomplish God’s promised outcome. Look at Joseph. God gave him a vision when he was a young boy. Joseph was very excited about that vision (even though he didn’t understand it), but I guarantee you that excitement level was challenged when he was thrown into that pit by his brothers. In his mind I guarantee you his world was coming to an end when he was sold into slavery, accused of rape, and thrown into prison. Yet each and every time he was faced with extreme diversity he held on to the faithfulness of God. How do I know he believed in the faithfulness of God you might ask? Because, he always rose to the top no matter how dire the situation looked at the time. After every so called set back Joseph was still able to move forward and set the example to others of his faith in God. Joseph focused on the faithfulness of God and not the circumstance that he was in. Joseph allowed God to use him to love and help others no matter where he was or what was going on. He trusted and knew God would do what he promised. Was the end result worth the steps? Yes! God changed generations through Joseph. God brought many nations together because of the willingness of Joseph to trust Him in the most extreme circumstances.
The real question is are we willing to go through the NECESSARY steps for God’s outcome to be fulfilled? Are we willing to focus on God and His faithfulness when we are in the pit? Do we trust God enough to know it is necessary for us to go through the pitfalls for His vision to take place? But how can we be sure that God will come through?
EVIDENCE of the past, PROOF of the present, and DESIRE for the future. I believe in God's faithfulness because He has brought me through yesterday. I believe in God's faithfulness because I have today. And I believe in God's faithfulness because He has shown me the future (Lamentations 3:21-25).
GREAT IS HIS FAITHFULNESS!
