When you have been hurt time and time again, that it seems that pain is always around, and that it will be apart of your life you don’t want to feel anything. So, what do we do? We shut down and shut people out, but we were never made to be alone or separated from people. In God’s Word He tells us “Not forsaking (giving up) the assembling of ourselves together; as the manner of some is; but exhorting (encouraging) one another: and so much the more as you see the day approaching (Hebrews 10:25 KJV). Right there in that verse we are given two reasons: others have turned away when things are going bad or good and we get encouragement from others who have the same mind as Christ and us. It is hard to trust, understand, and fathom how we will get through the disappointments that we face in life but know you will. God made us so he knows what we can and cannot bear. When we accepted Christ we signed up to suffer as he did and many that came before us who made the same choice. Paul was beaten, stoned, shipwrecked, imprisoned, and exiled. Joseph (a great example of how to love when you may not understand why it happened to you) shows how to look at life. He remembered that God was faithful and had given him a vision and he never lost sight of that vision (read Genesis chps. 37-45) this will help you to care and love even when those closest to you have hurt you the most. In the end Joseph saw how and when God would bring the vision he had been given to past. Now I am going to switch gears and let you know that some things we go through are what is needed to mold us into the person God wants us to be. The Israelites were humbled by their enemies and then restored when they repented. So rejoice in times of trouble, continue to praise him even when you have no answers. When that person on your job has once again said something that is not true about you pray for them, when your husband has just yelled at you again and you know it is not your fault, when your child has just said to you”I hate you”, or a family member, or co-worker has just lied on you forgive them and let God work it out for you. This is how you keep caring, this is how you love. Now it will take God in you to let you do this. Joseph could not be mad at his brother when he understood why he was where he was. They meant to get rid of him but God was setting it up for him to save his family when the time came.
I know that I have every reason to be angry with many people that have been apart of my life, but to be blessed, forgiven and loved by my Heavenly Father I have to love them, because he loved and forgave me. Let Go and Let God create a masterpiece out of your life, so that when others look back and most importantly when you look back you can say “Look where the Lord has brought me from. Thank you Father for all you have done in me, through me, and for me.” If we try to love in our own strength we cannot do, but if we choose to love as God loves and allow him to plant that love in our hearts we will be able to do it
