I am the center of my world and my needs and wants are also the center of yours. I occupy space on your lists of things to do; because I am number one on that list, it will be a long time before you get to number two. I take your hand and use it to guide me and as I hold on to you I expect you to be steady. If on a whimsy I jump, I know your hand will somehow be there to catch me. I require you to have your hands open constantly to me. When I cry I depend on your smile to make the tears disappear.
I want your thoughts to focus on what I want. I am able to make you forget what is on your mind. I am the center of my world and also of yours. My helplessness requires your all. My frailty depends on your strength. You will do for me all that I can't and you will be for me all that I am not.
I seem selfish. I can not and will not say "Thank-You" but I will learn to be like you. I will watch. I will mimic. I will be like you. By providing for my needs now you are teaching me by your example how to be selfless. As I grow and gain independence I need you to show me that I AM is the center of my world and therefore I am NOT.
Show me who makes you strong. Show me who fills you up. Show me who keeps a hand open constantly to you. Show me who you call on when you need help NOW! Show me I AM. I need to learn that I AM is the center of my world and therefore I am NOT.
