God’s clothes of skin as they were dispersed.
Of many colors was Joseph’s coat.
His brothers love it did not promote.
The Israelites clothes did not wear out
As they followed their forty year route.
The priests wore robes that were quite ornate
At festivals they would celebrate.
In Bible days people their clothes tore
To show their sorrow, sackcloth they wore.
The woman in Proverbs thirty one
Clothed her household in crimson, each one.
Don’t worry about clothes, Jesus said,
Consider the field lilies, instead.
John the Baptist clothes were camel’s hair.
Also a leather belt he did wear.
The baby Jesus wore swaddling clothes,
A fact most everyone knows.
Modest dress for women was taught.
Inner beauty should also be sought.
Victorian dress was modest of course.
To reveal an ankle caused remorse.
Corsets made a tiny waist to span.
Comfort was not a part of the plan.
Some clothes depend on a special place,
Swimming, bee keeping, walking in space.
Today’s fashions have come a long way
And not for the better some would say.
Modest attire seems to be out of tune.
It starts too late and ends too soon.
Jeans that look like they’ve been worn for months,
Cost just as much as those not worn once.
But those that love the Lord will one day
Wear white robes, the best fashion anyway.
