What could be better than knowing I did my best?
What could be better than hearing any of this?
Whatever it would be, I hope to measure up.
To try my best, to do my best, is not enough.
Exceeding beyond expectations is my quest.
Reaching for the moon and finding a star,
How much better than that can it be?
Measure my life, not by words,
Nor by speech, but by deeds.
When my time has come, let my epitaph show
Those actions speak louder than any words.
“God, with You as my guide,
With wisdom as my thoughts,
I pray to go beyond any dream I have.
With faith and hope, let my journey be true and right.
Standing on the promises, let not my feet waiver.
Let Your Book be my plan, my direction
for arriving at my appointed destiny. Amen.”
Pages, ink and worn out phrases;
Some may think that is all there is.
Those, of course, who know the better,
Can see the Spirit move within.
When I stand before the throne,
When my life comes to the end,
I hope to hear my Father saying,
“Outstanding, my child; come on in.”
