At first brown conjures up dull lifeless nondescript hair or the unimaginative cardboard box, nothing exciting or luxurious to the senses. Then as I let my mind and eye wander suddenly there is the melting of hard solid chocolate into creamy warm liquid that covers my tongue deliciously and satiates my being for the moment. Now not only is my mind and eyes given a treat my senses of touch and taste are also engaged.
Stepping outside as I look around there is the feel of a gentle breeze on my upturned face. I look out at the landscape and in the field across the way spy a beautiful shining brown velvet mare and her colt that is a shade or two lighter brown. They share there space with a brown and white cow. Her brown spots are a reddish brown. Looking into her eyes I notice they also are brown, but have a depth to them that make me wonder what she is thinking.
What’s this? I look down at my feet and find something soft winding its way around my legs. Looking down I see the ginger brown feathery light fur of a kitten looking up at me with the cuteness only kittens can show. I pick her up and move over to the hand carved bench. As I sit upon it I notice the strength in its wood and the light warmth of the caramel color and darker blonde of the grain.
In less than twenty minutes from inside the house to the outside world I have experienced the different shades of brown as well as the changing sense one can go through from dull and lifeless to warm and vibrant. Brown like a diamond has many facets to it. It can even be the favorite color of a little girl who loves it because the horse she adores is brown.
I am thankful to God for the shades of brown that He has colored my world with.
