Black is….
• My friend Jimmie
• 5AM in the South
• Your soul when you don’t know Jesus
• My favorite dress
• The infamous hole….
• Your soul when you don’t know Jesus
This is a list made off the top of my head.
• My friend Jimmie is black.
• When I take my dogs out at 5AM, its black dark.
• That skinny dress that makes me look so good is black.
• Haven’t you ever heard of the black hole?
• Do you want to go to the infamous black hole if your soul doesn’t know Jesus?
• Knowing Jesus is the most uplifting, light giving, wonderful thing in the whole of your life.
If you don’t know Jesus, and don’t have His light and love in your life, are you interested in finding out how to get it?
It comes with a price, but at no cost to you.
It is THE most wonderful thing you can receive and it’s free.
In today’s world, wonderful and free don’t usually go together. But in the case of Jesus, His love is wonderful and it’s free. Do you want to know more?
Take it, not for a ride, not for a spin around the park, but for a life of peace, joy, and light.
Your key to the gates of heaven awaits you by knowing Jesus.
• The fact that my friend Jimmie is black really has no bearing on our relationship. He’s a great guy that just happens to be black.
• 5AM in the South – what can I say? I get up early. The dogs have to go out. But even at dark-thirty when the stars are twinkling on a clear night, the wonder of God still reaches me.
• Not knowing Jesus, you might still see the stars twinkle, a beautiful flower blooming, the wonder of a summer storm, but do you understand where it all came from?
Do you stand in awe at the miracles that surround you on a daily basis?
It’s easy for those of us who know Him and have a relationship with Him.
Let’s think about one person that we know that doesn’t know Jesus. We all have at least one person in our mind at this moment that doesn’t know Jesus. They don’t have the light and the love and the peace. How do we go about showing them what we have? Showing them what they’re missing?
Our actions are a good beginning. Can that someone you know, that doesn’t know Jesus, see in your reflection, the light of Jesus?
The next time that you see that someone, show them that the light of knowing Jesus is so much better than the black of not knowing Him.

You show examples of good contrasts in this piece.

I like your formula of repeating something 3 times, giving a little more information each time...i.e. "5 a.m. in the south"....then, "5 a.m. in the south when I take my dogs out.." Then, "What can I say, I get up early..."

I like the pacing of this, and the bulleted lists.

A blank space between each section would help your reader, and would also emphasize the fact that each one exapnds on the previous one.
