Black was my heart within me
Black was my sight from fear
Black was the world around me
For I lacked God within me
Sin and hatred invaded me
People turned against me
All I gave out was bitterness
Until I let Jesus in my heart
When unto I opened my heart
He entered and the blackness faded
To Him I shouted to save me
For He is the light of the world
He drove the bitterness from me
He swept the hatred away
He took the scales from my eyes
When His forgiveness flowed over me
Now His light is in me
My heart is bathed in His blood
My sight is turned upon Him
To Him I turn in love
Never again will blackness overtake me
For now I live in the light
Blackness does not invade my soul
Since Jesus came into my heart
Let the entire world see light not black
Let them be drawn unto it
For black is not the color of redemption
The light of Jesus has drawn us into His love
