His eyes glisten. He searches, tests, explores. His hands reach up and out and in. He is into everything. He enjoys everything. He dances and he laughs. He has no fear. He is a child! He is special in the sight of God. God made him.
He is learning. He is free. The worries of the world are not on this little one. He believes that Mum and Dad are there and they will catch him when he falls. They will bind up his wounds. They will comfort him.
He loves unconditionally. The pain of chastisement, of hurtful words is quickly forgotten. He forgives – and forgets so quickly that he manages the same trouble all over again. But he loves and he loves sincerely, with all his being.
Jesus loves him. This he knows. His faith has not been hampered. Jesus said it; he believes it. He knows that he is welcome on the lap of Almighty God just as he is welcome on the lap of daddy.
The disciples pushed him away. They saw him as an inconvenience. Jesus had far greater things with which to deal. There were adults! But Jesus said, Don’t push him away. Bring him to Me. He blessed him. The Master laid His hands on him and He blessed him. Love welled up in him. Jesus loved him.
I am a child of the Living God. He loves me. I search diligently and earnestly for all that He has for me. He cares for me. He hears my prayers. He is with me in trouble. He delivers me. He binds up my wounds. He comforts me. He heals me.
This is love: not that I loved Him but that he loved me. God gave His Son on my behalf. His Son paid the price I could not pay. How blessed I am! His love knows no boundaries. He wants me to look, to seek and to find.
I need to look at that child. I need to see how he seeks the mysteries of life, to see how he explores. I need to do as he does. There is so much to learn! Anxiety and worries should be in the hands of my Daddy – Abba Father. For as surely as I seek, I will find – His kingdom first, His righteousness.
I am a child of the Most High God!
