When I consider how much Jesus suffered on the cross for me. The excruciatingly painful
death that he suffered, the betrayal by one of his followers, the humiliation of hanging naked,
bleeding and helpless on a cross for a crime that he never committed. And that he was suffering
was for me. As it is written, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we
might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21. I deserved to die but
Jesus died for me. Jesus experienced the bitterness of death. He willing died for me.
And he rose from the dead. He conquered death for me. The sweetness of His victory is mine.
“O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” I Corinthians 15:55 KJV. Knowing
that Jesus has taken away the pain of death, makes life worth living. Granted I will have to leave
this world like everyone else has to leave this world. But I am going to a better place. A place
where there will be no more disappointments, a place that I can only dream about is where I will
be.
The cross is God’s eternal hand, reaching down from Heaven, waiting for someone to
grab hold of and receive. The cross is God say “I love you.” I have accepted what Jesus did for
me. I have received the cross and the love. I have experienced His love. I know I where I
belong. I understand what life is all about.
