She said when her money was all spent.
Now, as she sat, she contemplated,
Just how she would pay all the rent?
Her feet were so tired and aching
As she viewed all the gifts she should wrap,
Feeling an emptiness, deep within,
She decided to just take a nap!
Her heavy eyelids closed quickly,
Many thoughts flew through her head,
She dreamed of a gift of greater worth
Than any she had stacked on the bed.
A voice seemed to be softly saying,
“Have you forgotten about me?”
“I’m the babe that lay in a manger,
For your sin, I died on the tree.”
Her heart beat hard within her chest,
She awoke with tears in her eyes.
What if Jesus had come to get her,
Would she be ready to meet in the skies?
She dropped to her knees in sorrow,
Repenting of her lack of thought,
Promising to be more frugal,
As Christ’s forgiveness she sought.
This day belonged to her Savior,
She knew now, without a doubt!
She said, “This Christmas is special,
It’s love, not spending an amount!”
Continuing preparations,
Brought real joy within her heart,
Vowing to live only for Jesus,
His presence would never depart!
For all of our sad mistakes,
There is a spiritual reason
Even if it is nothing more,
Than teach us about this Season!
