I was very blessed growing up. I was surrounded by lots of
family and always had cousins around to play with. But I had this
one special cousin. We were inseparable. We were the same age,
had the same love for books, the same philosophy on life, and the
same love for Christ.
Thinking back on all the years that we spent together, I
realize I’m a better person for having her in my life. The silly
things we did, playing Super Mario all night, collecting posters,
having debates of which New Kid on the Block was the cutest,
going to camp every summer together, and as we got older
sneaking out her bedroom window (sorry mom), going shopping
together, watching scary movies all night. And there were also the
not so silly things, like surviving high school, the heart breaks we
both endured, and comforting each other when we lost a close
friend.
As the years have gone by, we have both gotten married and
have our own families to take care of. We don’t get to see each
other as much as we would like, but that special bond will always
be there. We know that we can depend on each other no matter
what. A shoulder to cry on, a friend to laugh with, a smile to
brighten our day.
Yes, I have been truly blessed. Kera was and always will be
my best friend. My confidante. My cousin.
