Topic: Anniversary (04/11/05)
Happy anniversary darling, it’s been two years today
That I lost you to cancer and God took you away

I’d prayed for your healing, I didn’t know why
Oh Lord, I loved him, why must he die?

I watched you grow weaker and weaker each day
I just held your hand, there were no words to say

We tried many things to make your body grow strong
Nothing seemed to work, they were all wrong

In the end there would be no miracle for you
But there was one last thing that I could do

On the last day of your life when I came to your bed
You looked at me and smiled though words were unsaid

I must help you cross over to the other side
Hoping it would be a very smooth ride

With your hand still in mine, your body lay still
It was hard to accept, but it was God’s will

As I wept and cried, God helped me to see
You were now with the angels and completely pain-free

God healed my heart and sent me another to love
I know you were smiling from way up above

So until we meet again at the tree of life
Happy anniversary my darling from your loving wife.

This brought tears to my eyes. I am going through the same experience with my mother. It is very hard, but it helps to know her new home will be in heaven. Good job.

Hi Patricia. I just wanted to take a moment to encourage you and let you know that Happy Anniversary Darling actually made it into the semi-finals for the Anniversary Challenge. Believe me, it was a very close competition and everyone who made it into the semi-finals deserves to be congratulated. So keep writing and entering the challenge.
