But Lord none could begin to compare with You
They all ran away when the going got tough
But You stuck with me though my edges were rough
When I knelt to pray, You heard my prayer
Through the dark times of my life You were always there
I could tell You my secrets, my hopes and my fears
My triumphs, my questions, I cried many tears
I must tell others what a friend You can be
How they can lay their sins at Your feet and be free
My Jesus the world needs a friend like You
The world would be peaceful, we would know what to do
You bore our sins upon that cross
Ridiculed and reviled, You suffered the cost
My life has new meaning because You’re my friend
You’ve promised me eternal life that has no end
Oh glorious day when we meet in the sky
And we’ll live forever in Your home on high
