in passion in boredom in pain
loud and long
Crying needing wanting blaming
talking slander talking trash
insults, fighting
much unrest.
Wanting what the neighbors have
here the neighbors are just as bad
Where bad is good and no one cares
For each has gone
to his own way
blind confusion
leads astray
Deep inside the conscience speaks
Unsettling unnerving
what meaning this?
We’ve covered that voice
Don’t want to know
Don’t talk to us just let
us go
We don’t want to change our ways
We defend our tune
in shades of rooftop slate
and pearly moon
Then pounce upon another
hue and drown our problems
in baby blue
An evil generation this
Yet still a God who offers bliss
Has sent His son to have Him kissed
and put up high upon a tree
to suffer death’s indecency
The One cast out
a lamb rejected
Offers Himself to any and
all in this family of black sheep
who still themselves and hear His call.
He’s the lamb of God
not of black but purest white
and blindly bleeding
He gives His life
