I have been married for 28 years and have three children. After many years of working outside of the home, I retired to finish my Bachelor's Degree at the University of Nebraska in Omaha, for which I have only 4 credit hours to complete. My major is in History with a concentration in English and Psychology. I am working on an emphasis in Creative Non-fiction, and plan to achieve a certificate in the Advanced Writing program at the University of Nebraska in Omaha. I am also interested in completing certification through the UNO Writer's Workshop.
I desire to write in a variety of genre's to include creative non-fiction and fiction. I have five years of experience writing the cover story for our church newsletter which had a publication copy of around 600 per month. The stories ranged from 300 to 500 words. The Metropolitan, a literary magazine of Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, Nebraska, published one of my short stories, and awarded me first place in a writing competition in 2002. The publication copy was around 3000; offered free of charge to the public. The story has been used in a creative writing course taught by Cindy Catherwood at the college. I recieved a $1000 scholarship from the Board of Governor's of the school, and 4 credit hours awarded by the department of English.
I am ready to launch out and begin testing my hand in the freelance world.
